Intermediate Updates

July 28th, 2010

There are a few updates I’d like to mention that are visible now. The main one is that there’s a new Melee Technique filling Kidney Punch’s old role and Kidney Punch now does something fairly different.

  • Kidney Punch has been replaced by a new Technique better representing the teacher’s desire for fair play (and melee attacks). Kidney Punch now works differently and is learned separately.
  • Higher number keys now work properly in Net Combat. Good catch Valliant.
  • Corrected a bug where the last energy of lines and lures didn’t effect fishing. Good eyes, Argeth, good eyes.
  • Living Sludge Hearts cap at 999/day. If you want more petrol than that… I have no idea what to suggest. Thanks to Sir Cheddar for pointing out this error.
  • On a heart related note, the Industrial heart is craftable again. Thanks Al!
  • Also thanks to Llamaman, Xerf, Mag, Vholes Piper, and Glass for uncovering some typos lurking in old content so we can build a strong grammatical base moving forward.

Tic toc.

Cheers!

Countdown to Doomsday

July 24th, 2010

Tick tock.

The Survivors’ Quest is complete but still needs to go through internal (read: me) testing.

Barring something totally bizarre happening, the quest will go live exactly a week from now. So July 31st server time.

So why am I warning everyone in advance?
Well, because I said I’d warn everyone in advance. And because, well, it’s the Survivors’ Quest and some people might want to see it with a certain set of survivor(s) or otherwise get their affairs in order.

Will their be a July Unearthly Item?
No promises. I’d rather this go smoothly than get out the Unearthly Item.

Any other changes going in?
There are a couple changes that I’ll be making to the Slags quest, hopefully before the Survivors’ Quest goes in. After that, I’m sure I’ll be spending enough time on bug reports that I won’t think about new content for a bit.

What about the Beta Reset contest?
The rewards will be going out when the Survivors’ Quest rolls. The contest to go along with the survivors will be a different sort of contest, but that will grow and change over the next few months.

Tick tock?
Tick tock.

Duly Noted

July 8th, 2010

Just a few small updates today.

  • Added a section for personal notes in the quest log. It’s pretty straight-forward but I couldn’t find a way to make it fancier and more useful.
  • Went back and added a crafting component I should have had a long time ago.
  • Key commands now work in Gang Warfare encounters. Thanks, Llamaman!
  • And, of course, we have some typo fixes from Mag. Thanks Mag!

Cheers!

Twitter

July 7th, 2010

I’ve been considering creating a Metroplexity Twitter account or Facebook group for some time now. The network issues over the last few days have kind of pushed me off the fence.

I’m not aware of anyone experiencing serious problems, but it’s basically guaranteed we’ll have a true outage at some point. And I’d like to have a way to communicate that. Twitter seems like the appropriate venue.

The link is http://twitter.com/MetroplexDev.

I’ll be feeling out exactly how best to use it. At the very least I’ll try to mention outages, major updates (that people who don’t visit the site everyday might want to know about), and limited time content. As time goes on, I may also include minor updates and the occasional random thought, we shall see.

Cheers!

First of July Fixes

July 1st, 2010

Did some spring cleaning and by “spring cleaning” I apparently mean “fixing crazy bugs.” Crazy bugs that all seem to be strangely meta, preying on computers in game… I won’t think about that too long.

  • Fixed an item duping bug in the suite code. Huge thank you to Sir Cheddar for keen eyes and honesty.
  • Corrected an issue where the Unlocked Midgard Player was a consumable item rather than equipment. Thanks Mag!
  • There shouldn’t be PHP errors popping up in the rhythm game anymore. Not that it isn’t strangely appropriate. Thanks for the bug report, Thunderbird!
  • Sorted out an issue where the Extreme Bass XIII game was comparing your lifetime score against the leaderboard. Thanks to Mag for walking me through this one until I saw the error.
  • And fixed up some typos thanks to Cryptodynamic, Vholes Piper, and Shard.

Cheers!

Key Commands and More

June 30th, 2010

First off, we have some basic key commands working now. A special thanks on this one to Al and Man Mobile, who helped with the coding.

  • In encounters, hit the number of the choice you want. So 1 is the first listed choice and so on. Pretty straight forward.
  • In combat, hit the number of the technique you want (1 on the left and 5 on the right). You can change targets by hitting shift and the appropriate number. ` clears your chain, enter strikes, and backspace runs away.
  • Hacking works about the same way as appropriate.
  • There are probably a few screens it doesn’t work in yet, but I think I got the major ones.

We also have some bug fixes:

  • Corrected some issues with Dr. Mira being strangely nice to people who tried to kill her, which sort of makes sense combined with the issue where she wasn’t dying. Thanks for both, Llamaman!
  • Petrol Splash should be stunning your enemies instead of PHP. Thanks for the bug report, Batou!
  • You should no longer encounter hands after you kill the shaman. If this doesn’t make sense, don’t worry about it, just thank Al.
  • Also, we have some typo fixes thanks to Mag, Llamaman, and Argeth. Thanks!

Cheers!

July’s Unearthly Item – Midgard Player

June 30th, 2010

Zack now has June’s Unearthly Item, the Midgard Player. It’s a small thing, really, a tiny little music player with a lot of content backing it up.

There’s a lot to it. Go ahead and breathe it in. I hope you enjoy figuring it out as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

Cheers!

That grandest of college traditions

June 19th, 2010

In honor of everyone polishing off their school years (I think everyone’s done, aren’t they?), there’s a touch of new content at the University, reflecting the grandest of college traditions. The design team takes no responsibility for addition content which may have escaped into the wild.

Speaking of “escaping into the wild,” Third Eye shirts have been released into the Metroplexity Cafepress store.

Oh, and there’s a new Avatar which may or may not be University related.

Cheers!
